Will I, as a Christian, have to go through the 7 year tribulation period?
The common belief is that the Christians at the time of the rapture will be taken up and not have to go through the 7 years of hardship.
However, let's take another look at what the Bible says.
I Corinthians 15: 51 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— 52 in a flash, in the
twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53 For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the
mortal with immortality. 54 When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory." (NIV)
Paul specifically says this happens "at the last trumpet".
In Revelation 15:11a John says: 15 The seventh angel sounded his trumpet. . ."
The seventh angel had the last trumpet and it didn't sound until half way through the 7 year tribulation period. The second half of the tribulation period is when things
really get bad for believers. The first half is bad enough, but the second half is what is called the "Great Tribulation" or "The Day of the Lord" when the wrath of God is poured out on mankind. The
believers (at the time of the rapture) will not have to suffer through this because they will be raptured or taken up in the air to meet Jesus.
The original question: Will I, as a Christian, have to go through the 7 year tribulation period?
Probably you will have to go through part of it. It does appear that the rapture will not occur until half way through the tribulation period.
So, as a Christian, be prepared to go through at least the first half of the tribulation period. If you are prepared and the rapture happens sooner, all the better. But
if you are not prepared, then things could be worse.
If I am not a Christian when the 7 year tribulation period starts, do I still have a chance to be raptured with the
Christians?
If the rapture does not occur until half way through the 7 year tribulation period, then you still have a chance to become a Christian and be raptured. Only Christians will be raptured to meet Jesus – because they have put their faith in Him.
But keep in mind that it won't be easy to become a Christian at this time. If you choose to live a careless carefree life now and expect to become a Christian after the
tribulation period starts, then you probably will not even recognize that it has started. It would be much easier to become a Christian now than wait until that time. During the 2nd half of the tribulation, the Christians will suffer much. Most, if not all, will be killed for their faith in Jesus Christ as their savior.
Will my friends who are not Christians have to go through the 7 year tribulation period?
If your friends are not Christians, then they will have to go through the 7 year tribulation period. Only Christians (those who have put their faith in Jesus Christ as their savior) will be removed from the Great Tribulation.
